About this site

The Aalto University Library website was launched on June 1, 2011. Until 2012, the website will operate in parallel with the individual Aalto Campus Libraries’ sites.

Feedback, questions or improvement suggestions related to the site can be sent via the Feedback button at the bottom of the page, or by email to kirjasto-viestinta [at] aalto [dot] fi.

Site structure

The site consists of main sections that can be accessed via the horizontal menu at the top of the page (Current Affairs, Services, etc.). In addition there is information about library’s opening hours and connection information.

Each page has three content frames, where the top one contains the menu, the middle one provides the main content of the page, and the right-hand one has links, further information and connections to the different language versions.

1) Home

The front page has current information, f. ex. news, services and connection information, and
links to the Aalto University and its schools.

2) Current Affairs

This section collects news from the Library’s own web service and from the individual Campus Libraries’ web services. Users can subscribe to RSS feeds from the various news categories.

3) Services

This section describes Aalto University Library’s services from the various categories.

4) Collections

This section describes the collections of Aalto University Library and Campus Libraries.

5) E-materials

This section has information on library’s e-materials, remote access and access rights.

6) Forms

This section includes kaikki verkkolomakkeet, joilla asiakkaat voivat hoitaa asioitaan kirjastossa.

7) Contact Information

This section includes contact information, opening hours and connections to the Campus Libraries.

At the top of every page are links to the schools’ web services, contact information and the text version of the site, as well as a search field. All links open in the same browser window.

At the bottom of each page are links to the RSS feed page, a site map, the unit in charge of the page, the print function, the feedback form and “About this page”.

Copyright, responsibilities and personal data

All rights to the content of the site are held by Aalto University Library, in accordance with the Finnish Copyright Act and its amendments. Aalto University is a registered trademark of the Aalto University Foundation. All rights reserved.

The Aalto University Library domain also contains websites maintained by the university’s students and staff, or groups formed by them. The content of these sites is the responsibility of the persons authorised to access the domain who are indicated as being responsible for their maintenance.

Aalto University Library is not liable for any damages caused by possible mistakes or errors in the site’s content. Neither is the Library liable for inconveniences or damages caused by technical faults or by materials published by external parties that are linked to the site.

No personal data is collected on the users of the aalto.fi site. Users are asked to provide email addresses or other contact details only when they wish to receive a response to questions or feedback, or to sign up for the university’s newsletter.

Statistical data is collected for the purpose of improving the site. The site uses cookies to monitor the number of users and visits. The data stored in relation to the site are the number of users, the countries of origin, the duration of the visits, the browsers used and the content viewed by the users.
