The Aalto University Library offers its customers up-to-date lending services and inter-library loan services, guidance and versatile facilities and equipment. The library organises training in the use of the library and information retrieval for students and staff.
Library card
To borrow material from the libraries, you need a valid library card. All Aalto University libraries share the same library card, which is valid in all three campus libraries.
Any of the campus libraries will issue you a library card while you wait. To obtain a library card you will need to present an official personal identification and you must have a permanent address in Finland.
When you get a library card you are responsible of it and the material loaned with it, and the library rules are applied to you.
Students can use their student cards as library cards after it has been first actived at our customer service. If a new student has not yet received a student card, a temporary card can be granted meanwhile and it can be returned when the student card has arrived.
Library cards from other Finnish universities or universities of applied sciences can also be activated as library cards in the Aalto University.
At Arabia Campus Library two library cards are valid: the Aalto University Library card and Arsca card. Arsca is the catalogue database of Finnish art universities and certain other art libraries. Customers of Arabia Campus Library also have the right to borrow from the following Arsca libraries: Sibelius Academy Library, Theatre Academy Library, Academy of Fine Arts Library and Library of Cultural Politics.
