We are experiencing continued problems with the Nelli portal, with Nelli being off use part of the time.

Our e-resources can still be accessed directly at the publishers’ sites in the university network or if in a remote access via the page libproxy.aalto.fi. It lists all of our biggest resources and directs to them via our proxy.

If trying to remotely use a resource which is not on the list (eg. individual journals), you can add the proxy to the url yourself; eg. if the address of the journal is
http://iopscience.iop.org/1873-7005/

add libproxy.aalto.fi after the site address:
http://iopscience.iop.org.libproxy.aalto.fi/1873-7005/

We apologize for the inconvenience and break in service!

The session includes two presentations outlined below, followed by refreshments and snacks during an informal networking session, with a chance to continue discussion with the presenters.

“Writing a scientific paper and submitting to the right journal" by Petra van Steenbergen, Senior Editor for Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences.

Choosing a worth-while topic as well as a suitable journal and how to submit your article to a journal with a good chance of being accepted are the core topics of the first part of the session. The impact of open access and social networking will be discussed in this context. The talk will reference Springer’s portfolio of journals in your area of your choice as a starting point to choosing the right journal for your content.

“Why publish with Springer” by Timon Oefelein, Marketing Manager for North Western Europe, Springer.

Springer is not only one of the world’s largest STM book and journal publishers. But as this presentation shows, there are many benefits of publishing with Springer. Mostly notably, Springer uses a fast and reliable online technology to get your research published (and discovered) as quickly as possible. Second, Springer publishes in multiple formats for maximum distribution, readership, and user convenience.. And finally, we listen to our authors with a view to constantly improve our highly valued author and publishing services. The presentation includes a short overview of Springer’s open access publishing formats.
